Middle Lake at Westlands is predominately a pleasure and match angler’s paradise, so after a quick chat the owners son and Phil Walker (a fellow carp angler), it became clear to me that I may have to get through many 5-10lb carp, if I wanted to land a whacker! 
Little did I know that I was in for a session of a lifetime!

I managed to land a stunning 52 carp in 40 hours! Fishing the margins feeding mixed pellet in PVA bags, and using 5mm Screamer Baits CarpNutz as hook baits. 
Yes, most of the fish were “Cornish” or pasty carp and I probably could have landed more using a method feeder.

With a few mid doubles and a 22lb 8oz mirror already on the bank, I was having a ball........but this was only a test for what was to come next!

All specimen hunters know what it’s like to get stuck on a weight, and no matter what you try you just can’t break that personal best. 
Well from this day forward the 1:30am on 11th October is a date I will remember forever. As it's the date Westlands Angling gave me this 34lb 6oz Common.....breaking my UK record by some 7lb! 
I'm grateful to Allan & Dorothy Walker (the owners) for their fantastic hospitality they shown me, it added to the great time I had here at Westlands.
