| | | | | | | | Review at Bain Valley Fisheries, Lincolnshire.
| | | | | | By John Beard | | | | | | | Not quite sure how I got roped into to doing a review, but none the less how could I resist an invitation to fish a venue that is new to me and pretty much unheard of? | | Well the plan was to meet up with Phill Broderick and to quote his words “empty it!” over a 48 hour session. | | After a brief tour from Pete the bailiff, I couldn’t understand how a venue of this size with over 30 acres of water, spread over 6 lakes could be a well kept secret? Steve the owner insisted on taking my picture with a big bone......that was excavated during the construction of the lakes and believed to be part of a woolly mammoth. I would hate to see the dog that buried it! | I fancied all the lakes, but was convinced by Pete to have a crack at the Halifax Lake where a steady wind had been blowing into a bay for the last couple of days. After baiting the area with a couple of handfuls of pellet and placing a Nash Cherry boilie over the top, it took all of 10 minutes for the alarm to scream. | | | | | | | From that point on, the fish just kept coming, it didn’tmatter what hook bait we used they just wanted it! In total over the 2 days and with bringing the rods in at night,we had well over 50 carp. Most of which were around the 7lb mark but there was a goodmeasure of doubles with a few breaking the 15lb. | | I could get into this review writing if the fishing was going to be this much fun all the time. We never got through to the bigger fish, but the ones we caught were hard fighting and had never seen a hook before – I can’t wait to try the other lakes. | Fancy putting a bend in your rod?
