| | | | | | | | Fishing at Four Oaks Farm Fishery, Capenhurst. | | | | | | By Helen Oliver, Fisheries Direct. | | | | | | | | | I invited Dave Murphy and his 11yr old son Jamie to fish at Four Oaks which is local to where they live on the Wirral. They hadn’t fished here before and didn’t know about it, so they were both looking forward to visiting somewhere new. We arranged to meet early, however our day started a bit later than planned as Dave forgot about the clocks going forward, so they rocked up around 10ish with very sleepy eyes.... | | Both were impressed with how peaceful and quiet it was here, and I must admit that this place does have a certain charm, I think its because it’s a family run working farm. They quickly set up at Heron Pit (the larger of the 2 lakes) and it didn’t take Jamie long at all to start pulling out the Roach. | | It took Dave longer to catch (quite a bit longer actually) and more got away than he’d have liked, but the sun was out, the birds were singing and we were having a laugh (not at Dave’s jokes) so he didn’t seem to mind. In fact he was in a great mood as you can see by the photos below....he didn’t even mind posing for a photo with his tiddler! | | The pair caught 27 roach in total (Jamie caught 26 and a half of them I think) but Dave is made up at having found somewhere so close to home for a great days fishing, and he will be back in the Summer with all of the family. | | | | Photographed above are shots of both lakes and Johnny Lancaster. He was fishing at the smaller lake Pete’s Pool, and caught 8 Carp! You'll find Johnny here most weekends...and you can see why! | | If you would like to see more of Four Oaks, look them up in our directory or visit their website: www.fouroaksfarm.co.uk. | Email me today if you would like us to do a review of your favourite fishery:
