Summat Fishy!

Review at Felton Fence Fisheries, Northumberland.

Upon arriving at Felton Fence Fishery I could just sense that it was going to be a little bit special. Set in the heart of scenic Northumberland, Andy and Irene take great pride in keeping the fishery in pristine condition.
As you can see, I caught Irene putting stripes in the lawn in preparation for a match at the weekend!?!?
Although my intention was to tipfish and with being a carp angler at heart,Andy recommended that out of the four lakes I should fish the Fence Lake which at around an acre in size contained carp over 26lb.
So I thought why not, I can always stick a carp rod out and tip fish at the same time.

After having my fill of roach on the maggot feeder, it was nice to hear the carp rod scream off and although I’d love to tell you it was a new lake record. Unfortunately it was only a small common carp of around 4lb that had aspirations of being a salmon or so you would think the way the way it leaped clean out of the water twice as I was playing it!

Afterwards I told Andy about this lunatic common to which he said in a broad Geordie accent: “w’aye,‘ardest carp in the country these man!”

Thinking that these little pocket rockets would be great sport on the tip rod; I set about putting on a heavier set up. After a few casts laying down a bed of soaked 2mm trout pellets the carp soon took a fancy to pineapple bait-tech mini boilies.

Felton Fence Fishery is definitely worth a go and although I didn’t catch any of the real specimens you can but help leaving with a smile on your face. The waters are beautiful and the facilities are improving all the time. As I left Irene was opening a new bait & tackle shop and Andy was waste deep constructing new pegs on one of the lakes.
